Aluminium porches provide unrivalled strength & durability

Serving as the gateway into your home, aluminium porches not only help to keep your home warm, but also serve as a practical and versatile storage area for the inside, as well as a stylish addition to the outside. The unrivalled strength, durability and sleekness of aluminium have made it a popular choice with homeowners wanting the very best for their home. Such strength means aluminium frames can be made much thinner than with other materials; allowing you much more freedom in regards to design. As such, we can help you get the perfect porch for your home, including curved and straight designs.

A quality that never fades

Aluminium porches are also known for their fantastic energy efficiency and durability; helping to create a room that is as warm and inviting as the rest of your home. This is because your aluminium framed porch will actively prevent heat from leaving your home and cold from entering it. Perfectly suited to the challenging, ever-changing British weather, aluminium porches will never rot or rust. Available in a wide-range of colours, our cheap aluminium porches undergo an extensive 11-stage powder-coating process; resulting in an incredibly deep, rich finish, and one that will continue to look brand new for years to come. Here at Joedan Home Improvements we also offer incredibly realistic aluminium woodgrain porches. Such finishes, including Walnut, Rosewood, and Rich Oak, enable you to keep the traditional look of timber frames while enjoying modern levels of insulation and security.

Security

Porch windows and doors from Wessex Windows can all be specified with the same security features as our standard windows and doors, including: high security hinges and handles; multi-point locking systems; dog bolts; and anti-bump/snap cylinders on doors. Such security features will turn your porch into a useful and safe place to store some of your possessions, without any risk to your family.

Practical

A decent porch can act as the ideal location for storing coats and shoes and what better place to collect your post first thing in the morning. Porches will be a permanent fixture and you will question how you managed to cope without in the first place. Front porches can create a huge visual impact and what better addition to have when you want guests to be greeted by a stylish entrance point.

Cost Effective

Compared to an orangery or conservatory which are more aspiraitonal investments, quite often a porch is more of a functional improvement. Even so, many homeowners with a porch will testify that they now couldn’t live without one, and with the costs of a porch being a fracito of the cost of other home improvements, it is understandable why they are so popular.

Quality tiling solutions…

Both are types of tiling options are lightweight, making them ideal for use on conservatories in particular – and completely weather proof. The 2 options are  lightweight tile which is available in five colour options, and the second is lightweight slate which emulates, to fantastic effect, the look of natural slate

Lightweight Tile

Lightweight tiles are lighter than traditional roofing materials meaning they are quicker to fit. They are also extremely low maintenance, so this option really is ideal for conservatories, orangeries, porches and extensions alike. The colour range includes ebony, red, umber, green and charcoal and will allow you to create the external look that you desire from your new or refurbished roof.

Lightweight Slate

Lightweight slate is modern equivalent to traditional slate roofing which has timeless appeal. Unlike traditional slate, lightweight slate does not crack or de-laminate. This roof covering is available in a colour palette that includes stone black, pewter grey, plum, brick red, and chestnut brown.

Planning Permission & Building Regulations

Planning Permission

The planning rules for UPVC or Aluminium Porches are applicable to any external door to the dwellinghouse. Adding a porch to any external door of your home in Basingstoke, Fareham, Winchester, Portsmouth & Southampton and throughout Hampshire is considered to be permitted development, not requiring an application for planning permission, provided:

  • The ground floor area (measured externally) would not exceed three square metres.
  • No part would be more than three metres above ground level (height needs to be measured in the same way as for a house extension).
  • No part of the porch would be within two metres of any boundary of the dwelling house and the highway.

Please note: the permitted development allowances described above apply to houses – not flats, maisonettes or other buildings.

Building Regulations

Building a porch at ground level and under 30 square metres in floor area is normally exempt from the need for building regulation approval. This is provided that glazing and any fixed electrical installations comply with the appropriate sections of building regulations.

For a porch to be exempt from building regulations approval:

  • The front entrance door between the existing house and the new porch must remain in place.
  • If the house has ramped or level access for disabled people, the porch must not adversely affect access.
